I noticed that people in Ebou Dar seem to step wide of Vanin as if he is dangerous.  What's going on here?

I think it has to do with the fact that he not only has the grace Warders do but also he seems to be a very quick and dangerous man even with the weight he carries.

Wombat raises a good point. It seems a bit weird to me that everybody and his mother steps wide of Vanin .... why?

It has nothing to do with danger, but rather the fact that Vanin does not believe in bathing more than once a year Grin

chel vanin is really demandred.  think of all the times it is mentioned that vanin has a soft spot for elayne (ilyena)

Vanin had been seen on screen by the time RJ said Demandred hadn't been seen on screen.

That's very possible.  If so I saved the board from some potential trolling by being trolled myself.  There is much ji in this.  Then again I generally approve of trolling so maybe I have toh to said troll.

I think it's part of the whole Jordan "you can see instantly perceive who's dangerous" motiff. Vanin looks like a "fat sack in the saddle" but is a dangerous and wiley man (who is secretly Lord Luc).
