New Spring #7 is out!

A quick google of it shows an August 19th release date.  I don't know how widely it has been distributed yet.

New Spring #8 is expected to be released in November.

Check it out for yourself here:  http://comics.wikia.com/wiki/Robert_Jordan's_New_Spring

Since there is no Eye of the World thread I though I could mention that this website seems to be selling 1-4 issues of eye of the world. http://heavyink.com/title/4574-Robert-Jordans-Wheel-Of-Time-Eye-Of-The-World

Only issue with that is that Dable hasn't released any of the EOTW comics past issue #1 yet. I have no idea what the delay is. Chuck Dixon won't say anything beyond the fact he is still writing scripts. And Dable themselves won't respond to emails and haven't updated their site on ANYTHING in almost 4 months and their forums are still down. None of the main sites where previews or information on upcoming comics would normally be found, Newsarama, Ain't It Cool News, Comic Book Resources, IGN, has anything on either New Spring or EOTW. I'm sorry but Dable just isn't a good company for communicating with the public and it's customers....Next time people want a company to make their books into comics, Go to Marvel or Better Yet DC. At least they know how to promote their work and get books on the shelves on time...well most of the time.

That really sucks. They are probably going to cancel these again. It makes me sad cause I like the first 2 issues I was excited to get the whole graphic novel in a big book. But now it seems I wont be able to get it...

I expect to never actually see New Spring #6 or #7, and any of the EOTW series either.

I just finished submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Atlanta since I have yet to receive my copy of NS #6 despite notification it had been sent 3 months ago. After repeated requests for information had been ignored, and the only phone number I could find led to a filled voicemail box, I felt it was the next course of action to take. While trying to find more contact info for Dabel, I stumble across a number of none-to-surprising news items and blog posts.

A former Marketing Manager and Editor explains why he left Dabel -

Everything a little too clear having read this stuff about Dabel. Amazing that anyone would ever agree to work with them.

As much as I want the Wheel Of Time comics I don't think Dable will be the company finishing them. With only #0 and #1 out with absolutely no shipping dates anywhere that I can find on issue #2 (and that already 2 months late from original shipping date.) Not to mention their delays with New Spring and the inability of Dable to get those books to the people who already paid for them. I think it's a very likely thing to hear in the coming months that they are going out of business and all their licenses are being bought out by Marvel or DC.

I posted those links in the above message over on Chuck Dixon's site's forums hoping to get a response on the situation from him with luck he will respond sometime soon.

i never actually got #'s 0 or 1...  gonna have to talk to my shop i think...  further inspection says that it's probably my fault, but man, if you read this thread from the beginning and then backwards, there's like a hidden message.  like when you play stairway to heaven backwards, you know what i mean?  it says, "wow, dabel brothers doesn't know how to run a business.  like, at all."

I had been in contact with the former employee of Dabel that I linked to his blog about leaving the company. I thought it might be enlightening for others to read his comments with respect to Dabel and their association with Robert Jordan

Email #1:

In response to your post on my blog, I would highly recommend reporting Dabel Brothers Publishing, LLC to your credit card company and canceling the charge. They are notorious for taking money and not shipping orders; the month I left, I had an e-mail box full of complaints about posters that were ordered and never received. I'm not even sure said posters had been printed, but Les Dabel would send out e-mails saying they had been lost in the mail. (Dabel Brothers items seem to get lost in the mail a lot; it's a common excuse Les likes to use.) Les would often use the "didn't you get my earlier email?" response as well.

He is not an honest individual and he is known for lying to his customers. You would have better luck ordering through a comic book store than through Dabel directly. There are many web-based comic book stores that carry their products and who are both honest and reliable.

If you want to really send a message, send an email over to Rich Johnston (richjohnston@gmail.com). Rich writes the comic book industry gossip column, and he has run several pieces on Dabel pulling fast ones with peoples' money.

The only contact information I can provide is ldabel@dabelbrothers.com and edabel@dabelbrothers.com. I do not have their current phone numbers. I have no desire to keep in touch with them.

Good luck!

Email #2 When asked if I could post his comments:

Please do that, and also feel free to refer them to the article, where I posted up a similar response.

The Dabels used to be a lot less flaky and a lot more honest. But they’ve gotten really bad over the years, and I’d say that they’re at the shyster level now. They had Robert Jordan snowballed because they convinced him that Red Eagle Entertainment was the bad guy. (I think Red Eagle is just as bad as the Dabels, but that’s another story for another time.) Had he been alive to see them doing this, he would have pulled the license from them.

Speaking of which, you and anyone else who is getting burned should also email Robert Jordan’s estate and let them know not to work with the Dabel Brothers in the future. I don’t have the contact info, but I’m sure it’s in public records if you guys want to look into it. You could also send letters in care of Tor to the Robert Jordan estate. Believe it or not, just a few letters from concerned fans can go a long way.

But yes, please spread the word… DON’T BUY DABEL! Their distributor, Diamond, has been cancelling their books left and right because they’re getting so behind on delivering their promises. That means retailers aren’t getting their books, which means Dabel has less money coming in to finish their  books. They’re going to fold one of these days, and anyone with an outstanding order is going to be left in the lurch.

Good luck!

I'd ask anyone in a similar situation to myself to find ways to put public pressure on Dabel.
