And the second category for Week 6 is Electronica. Below are the nominations from the three Regiments.

The Archers have nominated...THE PRODIGY

The Prodigy are frequently described as the pioneers of big beat electronic music having sold over 16 million records worldwide since their start in 1990, a feat that no other electronic dance band has ever achieved. The Prodigy came to wide public attention in 1991 with the release of their second track Charly. The sound that came with The Prodigy's first album Experience was associated with what critics called 'kiddie rave' based off the sound of Charly in which the band sampled a popular children's safety show "Charly Says". Their second album, perhaps one of their biggest, was Music for the Jilted Generation and introduced a new, harder techno sound for the band and entered the UK charts at #1. This album featured popular singles No Good (Start the Dance), Poison and Voodoo People, songs which are considered Prodigy classics today. This was followed up shortly by the album fat of the Land, undoubtedly their best album to date. Controversial track smack My Bi**h Up created a huge stir in the USA over it's lyrics but was still popular with electronic fans all the same.

This album also introduced the disctinctive sound of Keith Flint, the band's new vocalist. This album also entered the UK and the US charts at #1 and helped break the band into the overseas and US markets, making them a global electronic sensation. After a long break from recording the band released a new album in 2004 Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned featuring the singles Girls and Spitfire, and has proved that The Prodigy are still capable of making new sounds while staying true to their electronic roots.

The Prodigy's diverse styles that have ensured that they remain at the forefront of elctronic dance music as one of the best. In 2002, The Prodigy were named by popular music magazine, Q as one of the "50 Bands to See Before You Die". Their variety in sounds means they have wide appeal to audiences and a certainly one of the most innovative bands around in the genre today.

The Cavalry have nominated... THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS

These former Dust Brothers (sued by a group of the same name), the duo of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons were pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre, and are known for high-quality live sets. They are credited as being one of the few truly arena-sized electronic acts. Their live acts comprise large screens displaying psychedelic images, strobe lights and lasers that project over the crowd.

The Infantry have nominated... MOBY

Moby, born September 11, 1965 in Harlem, New York, is an American DJ, songwriter, musician and singer.

He plays keyboard, guitar, bass guitar and drums. After eight top 40 singles in the UK in the 1990s he released the album Play, in 1999, which sold 9 million copies worldwide. His follow up albums, 18, Hotel, and Last Night sold 6 million copies and have achieved gold and platinum status in over 30 countries.

His music falls in the genres such as Downtempo, House, Ambient and Alternative which are all covered in the umbrella term "Electronica"

He has also released music under the names Voodoo Child, Barracuda, Brainstorm, The Brotherhood, DJ Cake, Lopez, Mindstorm, Schaumgummi, and Pork Guys, and as a member of the bands Vatican Commandos, AWOL, Caeli Seoul and Gin Train.

There you go. There are the 3 nominations. All you now need to do is pick who you want to win (please highlight in some way or another) and go through as the Champion of Electronica for the Grand Final! You have until Wednesday 18th June 2008 to make your choice!

Well, out of the three, Im going to have to go with Moby.  I have the album Play and love to listen to it when I just want to chill out and relax.

I'm not a huge fan of this genre, in fact the only one of these three I've ever heard of before is Moby, so I'm gonna have to go with him.  Besides, he's got such a great name!  LOL

The easy decision here is the Chemical Brothers...they have revolutionized Electronica!

While I have heard of Moby and Chemical Bros, I couldn't name you one of thier songs.  The Prodigy, however are very well known....even for me who doesn't listen to this genre often.

Prodigy had one decent album with a few good songs. Moby much the same, it must have been almost ten years since he released anything that is worth listening to. Chemical Brothers on the other hand constantly holds a high quality, and unlike the two others they have contributed to modernising electronica. Thus, Chemical Brothers is the logical choice.

(Wonders how Air and Daft Punk could be overlooked...)

I like Chemical Brothers and Moby, but I vote for THE PRODIGY.

Maj, I too wonder how Daft Punk got overlooked. I got to see them live and they are wicked.

I don't know about Moby being defined as Electronica, he's always seemed more of house genre DJ, to me anyway. The Chemical Brothers I like, but I prefer Prodigy given the choice.

But that isn't a major crime, as The Chemical Brothers are there. And they do have some Block Rockin' Beats! They produce quality albums time after time, and take each album to the next level when that seems impossible!

I don't like any of them as this is far far from the kind of music I like but I'll go with Moby.

Tough choice between Moby and the Progidy for me..but I think Moby just pips them to the post.
