Here is a new idea for everyone at DM to get involved in. The Band of the Red Hand ORG, DM's very own music and travel ORG, will be hosting a music tournament like no other music tournament ever seen before -
The Battle of the Bands. This thread is here to give you some background information of what will be happening. So have a quick read and come join the fun.
How it will work
16 different music genres have been found, and each of the 3 Regiments (the Archers, the Cavalry and the Infantry) have put forward a champion for each of these categories. Each week, 2 of these categories will be picked, and it will be down to you, the members of DM, to determine the winner of each category from the 3 names put forward. There will be a little 'blurb' about why each has been nominated to help you pick your winner. Once the winners for each genre has been picked, they will go into the Grand Final.
The Grand Final
The 16 winners head to the Grand Final, which will be simple knock out. There will be a draw, and the winner of each tie goes through until we are left with the final two. From these two, the winner will be decided.
The Genres
Below is the list of the 16 genres chosen. Also find the dates of when they will happen.
3rd May --> 9th May: Country and Reggae
11th May --> 17th May: Folk and Soul
18th May --> 24th May: Blues and Pop
25th May --> 31st May: Jazz and Metal
5th June --> 11th June: R&B and Ska
8th June --> 14th June: Electronica and Rock
15th June --> 21st June: Hip Hop and Trance
22nd June --> 28th June: Garage and Indie
Then it will be into the knock-out stages. The dates for this will follow.
What you need to do
It's pretty simple what you need to do! For each genre, you just need to post your favourite. It's that simple. Of course, there is nothing stopping you from posting your views and comments either.
The Future...
If this proves successful, which I believe it will, we plan to incorporate different categories into the idea, including Classical Music, Film Music and Holiday Locations.
Final Words...
Firstly, if there are any questions about any of this, do not hesitate to ask them. I will then do my best to answer them. And finally, have fun!
